We have updated our Enhanced and Classic mode file sending methods with 256-bit AES encryption.
The AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) is used to securely encrypt your uploaded files while they are temporarily hosted on our file server. Previously, we were using the already strong 128-bit encryption method.
To give you an idea of just how secure this is, it is over 2,000 times more secure than using 128-bit AES. To break it, a brute force attack would take 50 supercomputers over 3,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 years!
Breaking a symmetric 256-bit key by brute force requires 2128 times more computational power than a 128-bit key. A device that could check a billion billion (1018) AES keys per second (if such a device could ever be made – as of 2012, supercomputers have computing capacities of 20 Peta-FLOPS, see Titan. So 50 supercomputers would be required to process (1018) operations per second) would in theory require about 3 X 10^51 years to exhaust the 256-bit key space. [Wikipedia]
