What is SSAE 16?
SSAE 16 is an auditing standard for service organizations that replaces SAS 70 type II certification. In short, SSAE 16 is a standard set by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) to comply with new international standards brought about by the recently introduced International Standards for Assurance Engagements (ISAE) number 3402.
Why is SSAE 16 important?
SSAE 16 certification is important because the SSAE 16 certification standards were derived from international standards, allowing SendThisFile to service the international file sharing community. In addition, the SSAE 16 certification is designed to meet industry specific data controls, such as financial data, legal documents, and medical records, so it is often a requirement for companies in those industries.
