How to streamline file transfers with Outlook
In the business world, Outlook still leads when it comes to email at work. With its integrated calendar, contacts and task list, it can help you keep organized and on target. You can manage your projects by sorting email into individual folders, it has that streamlined interface that we are accustomed to, and an integration for many devices and applications, including SendThisFile. Outlook is obviously a boon to your workflow and the SendThisFile Outlook plugin allows you to integrate secure file transfers into your email workflow. With the plugin, you simply send files as attachments as you normally would. It automatically removes email attachments and inserts much safer and secure download links. The best part is that your recipient can access them even if their email client normally blocks large attachments. You can move on to the next task while the file transfer happens in the background. It’s just as secure as our browser application and it even lets you send attachments that are too big for email. A video in our help guide explains how to send large files using the Outlook plugin.
If you’re not already using the Outlook Plugin, remember that it is available with Professional plans (and above) at no additional cost. And, if you are already using the Outlook plugin or have tried it in the past, we want you to know about some exciting upgrades that have been completed, based on customer feedback. Here are just a few of the improvements:
• A faster login process
• Clicking the Send Log button now prompts the following dialogue: “Are you sure you want to send the log file to SendThisFile support?”
• An email can be sent, even if the SendThisFile Outbox is being viewed
• An email can be sent, if the same file is attached more than once (Rather than remaining in the outbox)
• A message size limit imposed by an Exchange server is now bypassed (Outlook may still report that an attachment violates a size limit, but it won’t prevent sending) NOTE: This functionality can be disabled by adding BypassExchangeSizeLimit=”false” to the outlookplugin.config file.
To update the Outlook Plugin, first close Outlook, then visit: https://www.sendthisfile.com/downloads/outlook/index.jsp. Click the blue download button and re-install the plugin.
